Old American variety but little known.
Original of CAROLINA, (USA). At Kansas city, the brothers STARK discovered it and stake to their catalog. The real origin is unknown.
It appears on the catalog of 1922 and It has been distributed by the nurseries STARK brothers who sold all over the world..
size - medium or larger.
Shape - Ovate -roundish. Higher than large.
Skin - Dark red. Darker stripes.
Flesh. - Snow white.
Subacid, sugary but not a really particular flavour.
Quality.- .Good..
Maturity. - It is an early season apple. Ripens in August and september
Ripens extensively after other summery varieties

Doesn't suit too humid regions therefore

OBSERVATION:
Apple New York of mentions that the version with darker stripes would be a seedling or a sport
It is probably this last version that the STARK nurseries distributed especially as they signalled this fruit as big whereas the June red of Beach is below the average.
